Severe thunderstorm to hit Christchurch Jan 17th 2013, 18:52 Canterbury is bracing for a severe thunderstorm, with motorists warned of treacherous conditions due to large hailstones. A severe weather warning has been issued for Christchurch, the Canterbury plains and the Canterbury high country until 6:30pm this evening.
