A sleeping giant: Image taken from space shows population crowded around Mount Vesuvius centuries after it wiped out Pompeii Jan 5th 2013, 20:15 NASA has released an incredible image, taken from the International Space Station, giving a new perspective on one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world - Mount Vesuvius in Italy.
