El cubano Leinier Domínguez competirá en torneo y dará conferencias en EE.UU.

El Gran Maestro cubano Leinier Domínguez, número 13 del ránking de la Federación Internacional de Ajedrez (FIDE), viajó a Estados Unidos para participar en un torneo de partidas rápidas y dictar conferencias sobre el desarrollo del ajedrez en Cuba, informaron medios locales.

Domínguez con 2.757 puntos Elo salió ayer hacia San Louis para asistir al torneo de dos semanas que incluirá a ajedrecistas estadounidenses y extranjeros.

Su agenda incluye asimismo varias conferencias ante aficionados y estudiantes universitarios sobre el desarrollo del ajedrez en la isla y sus experiencias en torneos anteriores.

Este será el segundo viaje de Domínguez a Estados Unidos, donde en 2011 participó en la "Spice Cup", otro torneo de partidas rápidas en el que quedó en segundo lugar tras el vietnamita Quang Liem Le.

Domínguez, ganador este año de la cuarta fase del Grand Prix de ajedrez, con asiento en Salónica, Grecia, participará además en agosto en la Copa del Mundo que tendrá sede en Noruega.

Grandmaster Leinier Dominguez, the 13th ranked player in the world (FIDE), traveled to the U.S. to participate in a blitz chess tournament and lecturing on the development of chess in Cuba, local media reported.

Dominguez 2,757 Elo points came to (Webster University) St. Louis to attend the two-week event that will include U.S. and foreign players.

His agenda also includes several lectures to amateur and college students (at Webster University) on the development of chess in Cuba and his experiences in previous tournaments.

This will be the second trip to the U.S. for Dominguez, where in 2011 he participated in the "SPICE Cup", another tournament which he took second place behind Vietnamese Le Quang Liem.

Dominguez, winner this year of the fourth stage of the Grand Prix Chess, based in Thessaloniki, Greece, August will also participate in the World Cup that will be based in Tromsø, Norway.
