The 2013 edition of the Belgian Chess Championships is taking place on 6th – 14th July at the Lindner Hotel, Long Kievitstraat 125, 2018 in Antwerpen.
A number of events will be held in this national chess festival. The main tournaments are the Experts round-robin and the Open section.
The Experts tournament is a 10-player single round-robin with a selection of the strongest Belgian players. It has a rating average of 2387. The only grandmaster in the lineup, Dgebuadze is the first seed.
The Open section is a 9 rounds Swiss system event. It has attracted no less than 174 players. Scottish GM Paul Motwani is the first seed and clear favorite.
The time control in both events is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves plus 30 minutes to finish the game and 30 seconds increments from move one.
