The Philippines is among Asian countries worst hit by disasters this year, according to a report of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). In a report released in Bangkok this month, the UNISDR said the Philippines had the second most number of disasters in the first 10 months of the year with 16 recorded disasters, next only to China with 18 recorded calamities. The document covers disasters between January and October and does not include Typhoon "Pablo," which struck Mindanao on Dec. 4 and left more than 1,000 dead and another 800 missing.
