Train bosses tell people not to travel as UK is hit by MORE rain and 388 flood alerts are issued Dec 22nd 2012, 15:09 Christmas travel plans for millions are in chaos today as widespread flood warnings across the UK are crippling roads and rail networks and putting lives at risk. With much of the country battered by heavy rain overnight, the Environment Agency has issued 338 flood alerts and 126 flood warnings. The south west of England is most severely affected - with four severe flood warnings in place.
