MLANG, North Cotabato —Heavily armed gunmen of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters swooped down on a village here at 5:30 a.m. Thursday but were intercepted by soldiers as they were heading towards the village proper. Mlang Mayor Joselito PiƱol said there had been reports of injury as soldiers pursued the fleeing BIFF gunmen from Barangay Tibao. He said it was fortunate that the military had readied its forces as early as last week when intelligence reports had it that the BIFF would be mounting more attacks on Mllang, one of North Cotabato's border towns with Maguindanao, where the BIFF maintains a strong presence....
