UWI, UTech compete in regional chess champs

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A team from The University of West Indies (UWI), Mona will compete in a regional tertiary chess championship in the US later this week.
The team will make the trip to New Jersey to take part in the Pan American Intercollegiate Chess Championships to be held over four days, starting December 27.
Jamaica will also be represented by another institution, the University of Technology at the competition which features teams from North America and the Caribbean.
UWI heads into the competition bolstered by Stuart James, the current CARIFTA champion. James will be supported by Paul Brooks, Miguel Asher and Zachary Ramsey as the team seeks to walk away with the 'best international team award' given to the top team outside North America.
