FIDE World Junior Chess Championships 2013 for boys & girls under 20 is taking place in Kocaeli, Turkey, from 12th to 27th September 2013.

The first round was played today and there were already a couple of unexpected results.

Yan Fang (China 2281) made a draw against World Cup participant GM Jorge Cori (Peru 2587), while CM Luthfi Ali Muhammad (Indonesia 2277) defeated GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (Armenia 2575).

Another Chinese player, Chao Chu Wei (2270), excelled as he stunned IM Vladislav Kovalev (Belarus 2568) on the 7th board. Full results below.
