DUMAGUETE CITY—The country's first medical resort, owned by a former senator, is expected to rise in Barangay Bantayan in this city. The South Sea Resort will be developed into a medical resort called South Sea Medical City (SSMC) which will house a 100-bed tertiary hospital, two condominium buildings, a 200-room resort-hotel, a fitness center, souvenir shops, swimming pools and a helipad. The hospital will have facilities for the treatment of cancer and blood diseases. Dr. Jonathan C. Amante, SSMC board director, said the hospital would be run by physicians, pointing out that hospitals run by physicians are better managed and more progressive. ...
