BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi -- A Filipina who was pregnant with twins died while undergoing Cesarean delivery in Sabah on Monday, the provincial health officer here said. Niharaja Jailana, 31, a native of Zamboanga, was working in Sandakan for years. Dr. Sukarno Asri, provincial health officer of Tawi-Tawi, said Jailana and her family were in Taganak in Turtle Islands for days as they waited for vessels that would ferry them to Bongao when she went into labor. Asri said the health workers present in the area and the local government decided to transport Jailani back to Sandakan because of the lack in facilities on the island.
