The 18th HIT Open was held on 25-31st January at the Hotel Casino Perla in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

The main event with 69 participants was played over nine rounds of Swiss system. Spanish GM Oleg Korneev emerged winner by collecting 7,5 points, leaving the nearest followers half a point behind.

The top prizes were 1.100 €, 800 €, 600 €, 500 €, 400 € and 300 €.

1. Korneev Oleg GM ESP 2610 – 7.5


2-3. Tratar Marko GM SLO 2517 and Visintin Roberto MK ITA 2046 – 7.0


4-6. Drazic Sinisa GM SRB 2471, Tomazini Žan FM SLO 2356 and Beletič Danijel MK SLO 2239 – 6.5


7-10. Milenkovic Mladen IM SRB 2393, Zuttioni Federico MK ITA 2006, Šuc Timothy MK SLO 2116 and Žnidarič Anže I SLO 1827 – 6.0


11-21. Jelen Igor IM SLO 2375, Mestek Igor MK SLO 2186, Pregarac Valter MK SLO 2180, Keršič Matej MK SLO 2204, Bellia Fabrizio IM ITA 2448, Srebrnič Vojko MK SLO 2181, Unuk Laura WM SLO 2008, Kosmač Blaž MK SLO 2204, Pirš Matjaž I SLO 2053, Ceschia Ivano FM ITA 2303 and Belardinelli Franco I ITA 1905 – 5.5 etc


In addition, HIT Open B for U15 juniors and U1600 rated players was staged concurrently with the main event. Elvis Džamastagič IV SLO 1444 took a clear first place with 7,0/9 points despite the poor start of two consecutive losses. 20 players competed in this group.
