Ban him, not the clothing: Rapper Chris Brown found himself at the receiving end of a tweet on Thursday from singer Richard Marx, criticising the Grammy's decision to ban skimpy outfits but allow 'guys who beat up women' to attend the awards show
I'm a nice guy: The soft-rock balladeer thinks the Grammys should take a stand against men who beat their partners
The Right Here Waiting singer referenced the rapper in a thinly veiled tweet, stating:
'Risque' clothing banned at Grammys but guys who beat up women? Come ooonnn downnnnn…..#goodcallgrammys.'
In a followup tweet, the soft rock crooner clarified: "Technically that tweet was about ANY d**kbag who hits women."
Richard was referring to CBS's announcement on Wednesday that attendees of Sunday's 55th annual Grammy Awards cover up for the event.
The network, which is airing the awards show, said in a statement: 'Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered...Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack.'
CBS went on, 'Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible "puffy" bare skin exposure.'
Seriously, Grammys? Richard expresses confusion over the awards show's decision
Chris, who won a Grammy for best R&B album for F.A.M.E in 2012, hasn't responded to the rocker's tweet.
The hitmaker attended a probation hearing in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he faced allegations that he failed to complete his community labor sentence for assaulting girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
A judge asked for more information and scheduled another hearing in two months.
Rihanna, the glamorous singer whose bruised face became a tabloid fixture after she was beaten by her then-boyfriend on the way to the Grammys, has rekindled her relationship with the rapper.
