Navy finds underwater 'Grand Canyon' Feb 25th 2013, 04:46 An underwater "Grand Canyon" has been discovered in images captured by a Royal Navy survey vessel. HMS Enterprise found the 250m-deep canyon in the Red Sea during a nine-month mission to improve understanding of the waters east of Suez. The 3D images were created after the vessel left the Egyptian port of Safaga and were made using a multibeam echo sounder.
