Fewer Filipinos going hungry–SWS

Some 3.3 million families went hungry in the last quarter of 2012, about one million families fewer than in the previous quarter, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.   The survey, conducted on Dec. 8-11, found 16.3 percent of the respondents, or about 3.3 million families, saying that they experienced hunger in the last three months, down from 21 percent or 4.3 million families in August.   The survey, first published in BusinessWorld, showed that the 16.3-percent figure was the lowest since the 15.1 percent (equivalent to 3 million families) recorded in June 2011. A record high 23.8 percent going hungry was reported in March 2012.  ...
