MANILA, Philippines -- A low pressure area moved closer to Mindanao and may intensify into a tropical depression that will be named "Gorio", the state weather bureau said Thursday. The LPA was last observed 500 kilometers east of Surigao City and was embedded along the intertropical convergence zone affecting Eastern Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
