MONTPELLIER – Seven men drowned Sunday off France's Mediterranean coast due to a combination of high winds and strong currents, police and rescue services said.   One woman remained in hospital in a coma on Sunday evening, they added.   A total of nine people have died in similar circumstances since Friday.   The fire department said the deaths were caused by southeast winds of up to 70 knots (around 130 kilometers per hour, or 81 miles per hour) that caused dangerously high waves and strong currents.   "People venture out to sea and can't make it back," a fire department official said.
