Part of Cotabato road closed as soldiers, BIFF clash

MANILA, Philippines -- A portion of a national highway in Cotabato has been closed to traffic after the military clashed with Bangsamoro Ismalic Freedom Fighters early Tuesday, the Office of Civil Defense- Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said. The rebels strafed an oil tanker at around 5 a.m. along the Cotabato-Isulan route between the villages of Bagan and Macasampen in Guindulungan in Maguindanao. The military reportedly closed a portion of the highway for clearing and security operations, the OCD-ARMM posted in its Facebook account, quoting a military report. No casualties were reported from the clashes so far. The military, meanwhile, has yet to give a statement....
