MANILA, Philippines -- Work in the national government was suspended by the Malacanang Tuesday due to incessant rains spawned by Typhoon "Maring", causing widespread flooding in Metro Manila. Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda in a statement issued 7:15 a.m. said that "in light of the severe flooding in some parts of Metro Manila and with the Orange rainfall advisory upon both the recommendation of the MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) and Pagasa (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), the Executive Secretary has ordered the suspension of work in the government offices in Metro Manila today, August 20, except those invol...
