The 9th Ciudad de Zaragoza tournament was held on 5th October at the Estadio Miralbueno El Olivar in Zaragoza, Spain.

The main event was a 9-round Swiss with the quick time control 12′+3" per player and 142 participants. Top Spanish player GM Francisco Vallejo Pons and IM Renier Castellanos Rodriguez shared the first place with 8,0/9 points each.

Among the other events, Vallejo Pons played in the bullet-chess exhibition (four games with 1 min on the clock) with IM Diego Del Rey, and later hosted a simul.
