MAASIN, Southern Leyte—Power blackout swept most of Eastern Visayas as strong winds of Supertyphoon "Yolanda"(international name: "Haiyan") hammered Leyte and Southern Leyte early Friday morning. Advisory from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines showed that at least three power facilities in Eastern Visayas had tripped off, affecting Eastern Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte provinces. The NGCP media advisory released at 5 a.m. Friday didn't explain the cause of the power trip off.
