NEW YORK CITY—US stocks Tuesday ended mostly lower as analysts pointed to the need for markets to absorb recent gains after a number of records in the last couple of weeks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 20.90 points (0.13 percent) to 15,618.22. The broad-based S&P 500 dipped 4.96 (0.28 percent) to 1,762.97, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 3.27 (0.08 percent) to 3,939.86. Markets opened lower after the European Union cut its 2014 eurozone growth forecast.
